Progress report 10th June 2007
As you will see, the 4 beds are full and a lot of growth has taken place in the last month. Sweetcorn & brussel sprouts have recently been planted and we have had our first feed of potatoes and rhubarb. Unfortunately some plants have fell victim to pests, the salad leaves have had flea beetle, the cucumber plants were eaten by slugs & the pigeons have been feasting on the newly planted brussel sprouts! but it is all a learning curve for us all. The rains in May saved the need for watering & obviously brought a growth spurt. The downside is the need to constantly keep cutting the grass between the beds! However we have talked about doing away with some of the paths to make more room for planting, as we could definitely do with more growing space. Watering with watering cans now takes a lot of time but the exercise is good!
