U3A Allotment

We were very excited to hear the Council have allotted us another half plot, which is quite close to our original plot. We also have 2 new members of the allotment group, Mike & John, who have been busy digging over the new plot and adding manure. The new plot has been divided into 4 sections but will not have grass paths between. There are 2 fruit trees on the plot, a plum & a cooking apple, so we look forward to some delicious fruit this year. Shallots & garlic have been planted & the broad beans planted before Christmas are now above the ground. Some more raspberry plants have been added and also a blackberry. Onion sets are being brought on indoors and early potatoes have been laid out for chitting. Maincrop potatoes and all the seeds have been purchased. Now we wait for the ground to warm up enough for planting to begin!
